Geography

Martinique is a volcanic island in the eastern Caribbean, in the Lesser Antilles between Dominica to the north and Saint Lucia to the south. The north is dominated by Mount Pelรฉe, the volcano whose 1902 eruption destroyed the former capital, Saint-Pierre.

Like its neighbour Guadeloupe, Martinique is fully part of France and the European Union.
