Geography

French Guiana is the largest of France’s overseas territories, on the northeastern shoulder of South America between Suriname and Brazil. Around 90% of its vast area is covered by dense Amazonian rainforest, with the population concentrated along the Atlantic coast.

It is the only part of mainland South America that is part of the European Union, and home to Europe’s spaceport at Kourou.
