Liechtenstein is divided into eleven municipalities. Most municipalities consist of only one town. Five of the municipalities are located in the Unterland (lower country) constituency and the other six are located in the upper country.
The municipalities of Liechtenstein show complex shapes despite their small size. Seven municipalities have one or more districts in addition to the main district.

Ruggell is the northernmost municipality in Liechtenstein. The municipality has an area of 6.38 square kilometers. The population of the municipality is 2,243 as of 2017 and the population density is 303 / square kilometers. Liechtenstein is known as a largely mountainous country, while Ruggell is largely flat and is located along the Rhine, where Switzerland and Austria and international borders meet.
Schellenberg
Schellenberg is a municipality in the plain region of Liechtenstein on the banks of the Rhine. The area of the municipality is 3.5 square kilometers. The village of Bendern, the most historic settlement of Liechtenstein, is located in the municipality of Gamprin. The Bendern community had a religious significance dating back to the 15th century.
Eschen
Eschen is a municipality located north of Liechtenstein. The area of the municipality is 10.3 square kilometers. The municipality includes the village of Nendeln, which has a railway station on the Feldkirch-Buchs line.
Mauren

Schaan

Triesenberg

Triesen
