Think you know your world map? Find the Country puts it to the test. We name a country — say Portugal, or Kazakhstan, or Paraguay — and you tap it on the world map before the clock runs out. No multiple choice, no hints: just you, the map, and a ticking timer.
Come back every day for the Daily Challenge: ten countries, one shot each, the exact same ten for every player on Earth. Miss a few? So did everyone else. Share your 🟩🟥 grid and see who knows the map best.
Want more? Endless mode keeps feeding you countries — three lives, a timer that shrinks as you go, and a difficulty that ramps from the giants (Brazil, India, Russia) to the tricky ones (eSwatini, Suriname, Kyrgyzstan). How long can your streak last?
Play Find the Country
How to play
- Read the country name at the top of the game.
- Find it on the world map and tap or click it before the timer bar empties.
- The map flashes green for a hit and red for a miss, then reveals the correct country so you learn as you go.
- In the Daily, play all ten and share your emoji score. In Endless, keep going until your three lives run out.
Game modes
Daily Challenge
Ten countries, balanced from easy to hard, seeded from today’s date so everyone worldwide gets the identical set. One guess per country and a generous fifteen-second timer. Finish for a spoiler-free 🟩/🟥 share card and a running streak — a new puzzle drops every day at midnight UTC.
Endless mode
A fast arcade run: three lives, a timer that tightens the deeper you get, and countries that grow harder as your score climbs. Filter to a single continent — Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, South America or Oceania — to drill a region, or take on the whole world. Your best run is saved as your high score.
The geography behind it
The game features 158 sovereign countries — every UN-recognised state that’s large enough to reliably tap on a world map. Tiny microstates that vanish at world-map scale (think Monaco, San Marino or Singapore) are left out so every round is winnable. Countries are grouped by continent and rated easy, medium or hard, which is how the daily set stays balanced and the endless run ramps up.
Playing regularly is a genuinely good way to cement world geography: locating a country on a blank map is far stickier than picking it from a list. Pair it with the other Mappr games — like Where in the World? and the country-shape game — for a full map workout, or explore all our interactive map tools and apps.
Frequently asked questions
Is it the same challenge for everyone today?
Yes. The Daily Challenge picks its ten countries from the current UTC date, so every player around the world gets the exact same ten on the same day — that’s what makes comparing your 🟩/🟥 grid with friends fair. A fresh set unlocks at 00:00 UTC. Endless mode, by contrast, is randomised every run.
How many countries are in the game?
158 sovereign countries — the UN-recognised states big enough to tap accurately on a world map. Very small nations that would be a single pixel at this scale are excluded so no round is unfair.
Do I need to install anything or make an account?
No. It runs free in your browser on phone, tablet or desktop — no download, no sign-up. Your streak, stats and high score are saved privately on your own device.
Where does the map data come from?
The map is drawn from Natural Earth, a public-domain cartographic dataset, via the open-source world-atlas package. Country borders are shown at a simplified world-map scale suitable for a game, not for navigation.
