Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate is this land area calculator?

The calculator uses geodesic calculations that account for the Earth’s curvature, providing accuracy within 1-2% for most measurements. The main factors affecting precision are how carefully you place your corner points and the resolution of the satellite imagery in your area. For professional surveys or legal purposes, always consult a licensed surveyor.

Can I measure irregularly shaped areas?

Yes! Unlike simple length × width calculators, this tool lets you draw any polygon shape by clicking as many points as needed. Outline curved boundaries, L-shaped lots, or complex property lines by adding more corner points along the edges.

Does this work on mobile devices?

Yes, the calculator is fully responsive and works on smartphones and tablets. The touch-friendly interface makes it easy to draw areas by tapping on the map. For the best experience on mobile, use landscape orientation when measuring larger areas.

How do I convert between different units?

Use the dropdown menus in the Measurements tab to instantly convert between units. For area, choose from square feet (sq ft), square meters (sq m), acres, or hectares. For perimeter, switch between feet and meters. The conversion happens automatically without needing to redraw your area.

Can I save or export my measurements?

Currently, the tool doesn’t save measurements between sessions. We recommend taking a screenshot or noting down your measurements for future reference. The cost estimator values are also displayed on screen for easy copying.

Why do my measurements show as zero?

Make sure you’ve clicked “Finish” after drawing at least 3 points. A valid area measurement requires a minimum of 3 corner points to form a closed shape. If you only placed 1 or 2 points before finishing, the area will be zero.
